A social group meeting to
Provide opportunities to discuss the needs of the LGBT community
Consult with the relevant organisations to promote positive changes in Southwark
Have fun; meet other LGBT members of the community
Organise social events
Provide support and empower to LGBT residents to have an effective voice in the borough
Identify training needs for the LGBT community and other statutory and voluntary sector organisations
Aim
Reflecting the diversity in the area, to bring together members of the LGBT communities
to encourage and facilitate involvement and engagement to promote a wide range of active citizenship activities.
Objectives, to:
Meet monthly
Offer a variety of topics, issues and social activities for people to engage with on many levels
To engage with a diverse range of LGBT people (staff, local residents, students etc)
Offer information and support to the LGBT community
To empower residents to take up volunteering and self-help

How do I become a mystery shopper?

To take part you will need to be contacted by email or post (your choice)
What will happen?
You will be sent a questionnaire every six months which will ask you to tick boxes and make comments on a range of services in Southwark.
What services will be monitored?
The idea to look at where and how the LGBT community interacts with services and organisations in Southwark, to set a benchmark where they are now and if and how they might be improving their interaction with the community.
From this, recommendations can be made to services on how they might improve their service.
Do I have to know everything about Southwark to take part?
No, you will only need to fill in what you know about. It is hoped that there will be about 20 people taking part which should give us a good picture of what is happening. The mystery shopping group is open to those that live, work, learn and/or socialise in Southwark.
How long will this take?
About 10 minutes per six months

Is this confidential?
Yes.
Do I have to be a Southwark resident?
The Southwark LGBT project is open to those who live, work, socialise and/ or learn in Southwark, you do not have to be a resident. However, you must come into contact with Southwark services in some way on a regular basis.
Do I have to be from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community?
No, however, this project is aimed to capture information relating to this community. You may be wish to be involved in terms of being a friend of the community or parent or other relation of someone from the LGBT community.
Is this project only in relation to being from the LGBT community?
Yes, this project will be set up to monitor the current service provision offered by a range of services to the LGBT community in Southwark and monitor every six months how the service provision is changing.
What skills are required?
People should be observant, conscientious, reliable, honest, objective and passionate about great service provision for the LGBT community.
Am I paid for this?
All those taking part will be volunteering their time to complete a form. It is hoped that there will be a prize draw for all those that take part.
